Bridged Roll Under Counter

This will be one of my shorter articles in the Architecture+Design category but I just loved the uniqueness of this setup. As we know, roll under counters and surfaces are beneficial for a kitchen to be wheelchair accessible. Which is usually done with clearing out space below counters that are against the wall. But if you have enough room in your kitchen for an island, a bridged roll-under counter like the one above could be incorporated.

In the pictured setup we see a cooktop built into the roll under counter. The roll under counter is a thick slab with one end on top of an island and the other end on top of another island or wall counter. Controls for the cooktop are at the edge for easy reach. To the left there is an oven which is kinda low for true wheelchair accessibility but not totally inaccessible.

When a wheelchair user is in front of the cooktop, they are surrounded by counter surfaces on three sides. Which could mean less moving about to get items or do tasks. Sort of a multi purpose cooking station. Overall this is a unique look to the roll under design.
