Bad Design Style: Case #66

Yup, another vacation house rental with “accessible features”. This one has a “Brand new handicapped ramp!”

Look, the construction looks good and I’m sure the intentions were good, but there are errors here. First the slope is just too steep, nowhere close to a 1:12 ratio. Then there are no grippable handrails on either side. I would also advise not having the bottom of the ramp so close to the stairway. Not leaving much room to maneuver there. So if you’re going to make a rental accessible, please do it right.
