Glow In The Dark Sign Language Gloves
I’ll admit that the deaf and hard of hearing community is one that I’m not especially familiar with. So I’m not always aware of some of the daily issues they may experience from their disability. When I came upon these glow in the dark gloves, it dawned on me that people who use sign language might have problems doing so in the dark or low light. These Bright Hands Glow Gloves by Maximum Style can help solve this problem.
The gloves start out as white in the light and glow bright green once the lights go low. Imbedded within the fabric is glow in the dark powder that creates the glow. Made of stretchy fabric, the gloves are a one size fits all.
After being charged with light, the glow can last for up to 14 hours. Recharging can be done indefinitely if properly taken care of. To make sure all sides of the gloves are charged evenly, the manufacturer recommends stuffing the gloves and standing them on end. Cleaning should be done by hand to keep from damaging the fabric and glow in the dark powder.
Honestly I’m not sure if Maximum Style originally intended the gloves to be for sign language use. I’m thinking they were intended for night jobs or raves but then they discovered a new market. Either way these gloves appear to be a handy (pun intended) tool for sign language users. Here are some suggested uses by Maximum Style:
- Sign language interpretation in darkened theaters or concerts
- Signing between friends or loved ones in any dark environment
- Communicating with a hearing-impaired partner in the bedroom after the lights are off
