OLED Shower | Video Shower Surround
When it comes to shower surround walls, you can create a countless number of designs and colors. Although you’re typically limited to certain materials such as tile, stones, glass, or plastic/fiberglass. Those who are lucky enough can even have clear glass walls surrounded by nature. Of course most of us don’t live in a place that has such secluded privacy. But this concept shower surround by Simon Michel & Steffen Gramsch could have us showering anywhere in the world, virtually speaking. Their OLED Shower turns the shower surround walls into big screens and their examples also happen to be roll-in showers.
What’s OLED?
You may be wondering what’s the difference between OLED and LED. OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode, so instead of a bulb, an organic compound is what lights up. An advantage of this is a video screen that is thinner, lighter, and flexible. However they are susceptible to damage from water so these wall would need to be sealed well or placed behind a clear surface.
Shower Transporter
With the OLED Shower you could choose whatever serene environment you wish to be. Whether that be the tropic, desert, forest, or even underwater. Since it’s basically a video screen you could also potentially shower while watching your favorite TV show. Although depending on the show that could be a surreal experience. I also would not recommend watching Psycho. Pictures and videos would need to fed to the wall via a computer or other device.
Conclusion
While not an actual product now, OLED Shower is something that could be made and I’m something like it will be available sometime in the future. Coincidentally the best way this type of shower could be experienced with is a roll-in shower. That way you get a full image all the way to the floor.
