Outdoors In Roll In Shower In Idaho
If you happen to have a cabin in the woods, then you’re most likely the type to love the outdoors. Which is why you have a cabin in the woods. You would probably also want to enjoy the view of the outdoors while you are inside your cabin. So you install lots of windows throughout, even in the bathroom. Which is what this owner did for this beautiful bathroom near Payette Lake in Idaho. Huge windows and glass block bring the outdoors inside to this roll in shower designed by McCall Design & Planning.
Glass Shower
Of course when a clear window of this size is in the shower area, a secluded cabin is recommended. From the top picture, this appears to be the case for this project. But just in case there are Roman shade style curtains installed for added privacy. Two of these walls are clear with shades. The other wall to the outside is made of glass block to let in light but give privacy. Adjacent is another glass block wall with an entryway from the rest of the bathroom. In the corner between the clear glass walls is the hand held shower, shelf, and a grab bar. Shower curtains are then mounted on the ceiling track.
Unique Grab Bars
A cool feature of this bathroom are the custom made grab bars. The one mounted by the hand held shower looks mostly like a standard grab bar but is white with a curve. The other grab bar in the shower is floor mounted and comes up out of the ground shaped like a large numeral “7”. The last grab bar is by the toilet and also floor mounted. With the same white color and curved of the other grab bars, this one is shaped like an upside down “U”. The way these are shaped and mounted, they’re probably more for standing help than transferring.
Conclusion
Since this was part of a remodel/addition, the owners wanted the look to match the existing cabin. All while still adding modern amenities and accessibility. I’d say job well done. For more on this project and to see more of McCall Design & Planning’s work visit www.McCallDP.com.
