Let’s face the fact that sex and sexual desires are part of human nature. For some, it’s a very important part of their well being and happiness. Many times that sexual satisfaction is done with one’s self. Yes I’m talking about the “M” word, masturbation. Which despite the stigma for some, is a natural behavior. However for some people with certain physical disabilities, masturbation and other sexual stimulus is difficult or not possible. That’s where this concept design from China comes in. The Ripple is a sex aid for people with disabilities.
The Ripple is a wearable device with inflated textured material that is designed to simulate human touch. A special blindfold is also included which is meant to block out distracting light, give off pheromones, and provide relaxing sounds. The user can manually control the inflation strength or choose a preset mode. If a caretaker is involved, they can have a receiver which notifies them once the user is done.
This is a potentially nice product that addresses a need that is too taboo to talk about for many. Watch the video below for more on the Ripple. The Ripple is designed by Taiwanese designers Zoe (Hsin-Jou) Huang, Rising (Szu-Ying) Lai, Chia-Ning Hsu; and mentored by Wen-Yuan Lee and Ruey-Jin Wong. For more on the Ripple, visit this link.
