The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design are Effective Today

Starting today, the updated 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design are effective. Meaning that any new construction or alterations must follow the new design standards. The updated ADA design standards clarify some vagueness in the previous standards, gives design specifics for special places such amusement parks and recreational areas, and makes more places accessible. Starting this Sunday I will add a new category where each week I’ll post a section of the ADA design standards. The standards are easy to read and understand for the most part but there’s a lot to cover. Looking at one section at a time helps focus and memory retention.
